The Subaru we want more than anything: the 2021 Levorg

Subaru presented this week more details on the second generation of the Levorg, at least technical data and interior presentation.

The Levorg wagon is part of the junction of Subaru Impreza and Legacy. Moreover, the family resemblances are obvious from the first glance. Although we have known for a few months what the next generation of the Levorg will look like, we are discovering one of the mechanical options as well as the interior presentation.

We can afford to take a look back at his physical attributes. First, we immediately recognize the builder’s design trend. The manufacturer offers an evolution which thins the optical units and which shows more assertive angles. By the way, the “prototypes” of December 2019 and January 2020 were essentially production models. All the appeal of this vehicle goes through its trunk, which is more spacious than that of an Impreza Sport. The practicality is undeniable.

In the cabin, the Levorg differs from the Impreza with an interior presentation never before seen for the manufacturer. At the junction of the Impreza and the Legacy in terms of design, we find with great pleasure the 11.6-inch screen introduced in the 2020 Legacy / Outback. The whole thing is even accompanied by a novelty for the manufacturer. , a fully digital instrumentation with a 12.3-inch screen. Without a shadow of a doubt, this feature will extend to other Subaru products in the years to come. We also suspect that this interior could very well be used in the next generation of the WRX / STi 2022.

Mechanically, the Levorg is built on the SGP (Subaru Global Platform) platform that is found under all new generation products. Under the hood, the base version gets a new powertrain: a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 174 horsepower and produces an interesting 221 pound-feet of torque.

Again, there may well be connection with the WRX / STi. According to some rumors, if the STi used the turbo 2.4-liter (Legacy, Outback Ascent), the WRX could turn to this 1.8-liter. In both cases, the powers would be increased. We are talking about 400 horsepower for the STi and more than 300 for the WRX. Unfortunately, we will have to wait several more months before having more information about this highly anticipated sports duo. As for the Levorg, Subaru will distribute it all over the world, except in North America.
