For the 57th year, the Ford F-Series dominates pickup truck sales in Canada

We are no longer surprised to discover that the Ford F-Series remains the best-selling vehicle line in Canada year after year. Retaining its title in 2022, it is the 57e consecutive time this has happened in the pickup truck segment and the 13e times in all categories.

Ford has something to celebrate, once again. As has been the tradition for 57 years now, the F-Series is the best-selling line of pickup trucks in Canada. With 114,729 copies, there is a slight drop compared to 2021 when sales peaked at 116,402 vehicles. Although the figure remains impressive, we are far from the absolute record reached in 2017 with 155,290 copies.

Faced with competition, the F Series remains very dominant. It is important to note that the F-Series does not only include the F-150, there are also Heavy Duty versions. The other manufacturers, GM and Ram, have this same inclusive strategy.

Even adding the sales figures of the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra, we do not reach the Ford total. 53,281 Silverados were sold in 2022 compared to 51,684 in 2021. So there is a 3.1% markup. In the case of the GMC Sierra, we are talking about 52,318 copies in 2022 compared to 53,757 in 2021. This is a drop of 2.7%. It’s also rare to see that more Chevrolets than GMCs have been sold in Canada.

Adding the two brands together gives GM 105,599 in the segment. At Ram, including all versions, even the Classics, we are capping at 75,740 pickup trucks for 2022, an increase of 3% compared to 2021 which was at 73,467.

On the side of Toyota, we are very present in the category , but we remain behind with 11,651 units. It must be said that Toyota’s production capacity is more limited and that the range does not include a heavy duty model.

Not only does the F-Series claim the title of best-selling pickup truck and vehicle in Canada, but its numbers also keep Ford at the top of sales by manufacturer for the 14e year.
