2023 Ford Escape production paused over software issue

Not long after it was announced that production of the Ford F-150 Lightning would be discontinued due to an issue with the vehicle’s battery, we learn that another vehicle from the automaker is affected by a quality issue. Indeed, Ford is temporarily halting production of the 2023 Escape due to a significant software disorder.

According to what Automotive News, Brandon Reisinger, the boss of the Ford plant located in Louisville, Kentucky, reportedly sent a statement to employees last week. This informed them that the assembly line of the Escape 2023 would be stopped from February 13 to 19, 2023. The cause: a software problem in the digital instrumentation of the vehicle.

“The problem we have with the instrumentation is caused by a software problem, not a hardware one. If the vehicles were marketed in this way, the problem would not cause any danger, but it would force consumers to return to the dealership. Mr. Reisinger explained in his letter.

From what we understand, the plant intends to make up for its production deficit as of its full reopening, scheduled for next Monday, February 20. Ford did not add details about the defect or how it plans to fix it. The automaker plans to launch the 2023 Escape, which has just been given a good update, by next month.

Not the first incident

Although Ford recently announced that it wants to review the quality of these vehicles in response to several consumer complaints, it seems that the problems have been piling up for some time.

In addition to announcements regarding the F-150 Lightning and Edge, we learn that the approximately 1,000 deliveries of F-150, Bronco, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator and Mustang 2023 have been temporarily suspended due to a defect related to the 10-speed automatic gearbox. The problem would prevent the gearbox from shifting to the position park.

In a statement sent to US media, Kelli Felker, a Ford spokeswoman, wrote, “Our customers deserve to have quality vehicles built for them. That’s why we are committed to making the right decisions so that we can deliver the goods. “.
