Test bench | Competition from the Kia Seltos

The Buick Encore GX, Mazda CX-30 and Subaru Crosstrek compete for roughly the same buyers as the Kia Seltos.

Buick Encore GX

Price: starting at $32,475

Luxury at a reasonable price. This is the proposition of the Encore GX from Buick. So rather than directly attacking the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 of this world, the American is hunting on the same grounds as the so-called generalist brands. From then on, the Seltos is in the crosshairs of the Encore GX. The latter, however, offers a mechanism with more modest power and not as frugal at the pump as the mechanics offered by its South Korean rival. Furthermore, the Encore GX offers an interior almost as roomy as that of the Seltos, but quieter.

Mazda CX-30

Price: from $28,150

Mazda CX-30

Elegant, refined, the CX-30 offers, just like the Seltos, the choice between two mechanics (atmospheric and supercharged). And just like Kia, Mazda offers the fastest only on the most expensive versions. Compared to the Seltos, the CX-30 has a more rewarding presentation and more dynamic behavior (in all seasons). On the other hand, the Seltos offers more interior space (cabin and trunk), better visibility and a more generous basic warranty.

Subaru Crosstrek

Price: starting at $31,511

Subaru Crosstrek

Recently renovated, the Subaru Crosstrek represents a sure value in the segment. Compared to the Seltos, it has the advantage of offering four-wheel drive as standard across the entire range. Well planted, the Crosstrek also prides itself on consuming less, being able to tow a load, offering greater ground clearance and being more comfortable. In return, the Kia is more spacious, regardless of the seat you occupy on board, and its trunk has a better appetite for luggage.
