Electric Dodge Charger Daytona: 670 horsepower

The most powerful “muscle cars” ever marketed have been on our roads for a few years now, and many people are worried about the future of these cars, as the industry makes its shift towards electrification. Dodge however puts its hands in the dough in order to impress with its Charging Electric Daytona and unveils its power within the framework of the SEMA.

Power to spare

To start, Dodge will offer two versions of its electric Charger Daytona: a 340 kilowatt version, and another of 440 kilowatts. Three levels of equipment will be offered for each of these versions, and each of these levels will offer a distinct power:

  • 340 kilowatts – base version (455 horsepower)
  • eStage 1 – 370 kilowatts (495 horsepower)
  • eStage 2 – 400 kilowatts (535 horsepower)
  • 440 kilowatts – base version (590 horsepower)
  • eStage 1 – 470 kilowatts (630 horsepower)
  • eStage 2 – 500 kilowatts (670 horsepower)

We thus understand that the least powerful version that Dodge will market will offer 455 horsepower; conversely, the most powerful will offer 670. The eStage1 and eStage 2 sets will not, on the other hand, be offered in the traditional way. It will be necessary to obtain them thanks to a software update to then obtain a new physical key; the combination of these two will automatically unlock the new increased power.

These two versions, regardless of their power level, offer a 400-volt architecture. A third version which will offer an 800-volt architecture will be marketed in the future: this Banshee version will certainly be able, in terms of power, to surpass the Hellcat versions of the current Charger and Challenger.

An “exhaust pipe”?

We’ve known for some time that electric vehicles are capable of enormous power, but Dodge takes it even further with the Charger Daytona, where an “exhaust pipe” is attached to the back of the car. .

In fact, it is a system called Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, and the latter creates the typical sound of a sports car thanks to an amplifier and a resonance chamber. Engineers say they were able to recreate a sound as rich and powerful as that produced by Hellcat-type engines. Dodge believes it will appeal to those who say a performance car should provide a multi-sensory experience.

We still do not know the official date of arrival of this model or its price. More details on the Banshee version should however be revealed soon; however, it is already known that the power emitted by this version will surpass that of engines of the type Hellcat.
