In fact, the Chinese company called PU.LABO recently launched a complete lift kit compatible with these two vehicles from the Californian manufacturer. According to the company, it’s literally a conversion package with more than 25 components, including beefier control arms, new spindle gussets, specific and adjustable spring-loaded shock absorbers and, even, sub-frames. reinforced steel tube chassis.
All of these modifications raise the vehicle’s ground clearance by 2.5 to 5 inches and allow a maximum wheel travel of 8 inches. According to PU.LABO, as many parts needed to be replaced, since the original ones were not designed for such a configuration and they would have ended up showing premature signs of weakness.
In addition, you should keep in mind that an electric vehicle is often heavier than a comparable thermal vehicle, due to the weight of the battery under the vehicle. Suspension components must therefore be strong enough to absorb such weight. It should be noted that, despite the increased robustness of the replacement parts, the total weight would be similar to the original parts, due to the use of various robust and lightweight materials.
Suspensions put to the test
The development of this set by the young company PU.LABO will last three years, before its launch in 2023. The latter also claims to have carried out tens of thousands of kilometers of tests in various road conditions, including tests in mud. , in the desert and even jump tests.
