Via Twitter, Tesla polls owners for improvements

We will all agree that the American manufacturer Tesla does nothing like the others. In large part because of its CEO, Elon Musk, this company often makes unorthodox decisions for the auto industry. For example, it is the pioneer in the large-scale marketing of electric vehicles. It is also the first to have offered an online shopping and ordering system, without having to go through a concession.

Today, Tesla does it again, by proceeding in a singular way, in order to know people’s opinions. Indeed, the manufacturer has decided to use its Twitter account in order to solicit its subscribers and find out what they would like Tesla to improve on their vehicle.

A large-scale survey

Launched last Friday, this large-scale poll has resulted in no less than 8.2 million views over the past weekend. As of this writing, 1,063 “retweets” have been counted; Here’s what mostly came out of it:

FSD transfer

Perhaps the topic I’ve seen the most is the transfer of FSD (Full Self-Driving Capability) from one vehicle to another. According to users, it is currently not possible to transfer this function from one vehicle to another. Indeed, the FSD would be linked to the car upon purchase and not to the user’s account. Owners therefore find it frustrating to always have to repay for this extremely expensive option when purchasing a new vehicle. In Canada, this option requires paying an additional $19,500.

More choices for colors

The color scheme is another point raised by the community. Indeed, Tesla is not the manufacturer that offers the widest choice of paint colors for its range of vehicles. For example, the Model 3 only offers 5 choices, namely black, white, gray, blue and red. Also, while some paints are free of charge, some require additional fees of up to $2,600.

Little daily irritants

Like all vehicles, from time to time certain irritants or problems surface, and Tesla is no exception. Indeed, several owners have raised occasional problems with the windshield wipers and the automatic parking system. The uneven quality of finish also disappoints many people who have sometimes seen a marked difference in the finish from one vehicle to another.

Models that are waiting

A few “tweets” also mentioned the slowness of the models in terms of marketing following their announcement. We need only think of the Tesla Roadster 2, a coupe that was to revolutionize the world of sports cars with a 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 1.1 seconds. However, it is still waiting for more than 6 years already. The same goes for the Cybertruck, initially presented in 2019, this eccentrically designed electric van was to go into production two years later. However, four years have passed since then, and the final production model has still not been presented.

Integration of new features

Although many appreciate Tesla vehicles for their exclusivity and unique features, others would still like to have the possibility of finding on board common features found in other vehicles. Indeed, some offer the integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, without having to be a computer “geek” and having to circumvent a panoply of systems to make everything possible. On the other hand, others would like the vehicle to offer the possibility of having a wifi access point in the vehicle. After all, Elon Musk also owns a company called Starlink, which offers satellite connection services, so it might be possible.

Suggestions for the charging network

With all the advancement of the Tesla charging network, many have suggested adding the feature of a digital queue as well as waiting time for the next available spot. This would make it possible to better inform those who are looking for a terminal and to avoid any congestion at the latter.

This exercise done by Tesla through its Twitter account allowed people to express their point of view and contribute some interesting ideas. Now, it remains to be seen what the American manufacturer with a thousand and one surprises will do with this information and, above all, if these possible solutions will be implemented. Now, from your side, what would you like Tesla to improve in Canada? We want to read you in comments.
