This is what the first electric Jeep will look like

Stellantis has been mentioning for several years that it intends to go electric, announcing that all models in its division Jeep will be sold in an electric variant by 2025. Today we are treated to the first steps of this new strategy with the presentation of a photo presenting the first electric vehicle from the Jeep brand.

It is within the framework of an online conference intended to present the strategic plan of the manufacturer that Carlos Tavares, chief executive at Stellantis, unveiled what will become the first vehicle Jeep fully electric. Due to its sub-compact size, the model compares to the Renegade, in terms of dimensions; it’s a safe bet that he could well replace it fairly quickly given the failures of the Renegade for years.

For the moment, the manufacturer has not revealed any technical details about this new urban SUV, only two images have been published. The Jeep design is clearly recognizable, not least because of the seven-bar grille at the front. It takes up the style of the Renegade, but with much less angular features; of course, the drag coefficient remains an important issue in the case of an electric vehicle.

The CEO also took the opportunity to reiterate the manufacturer’s commitment to electric vehicles and zero emissions. By 2030, all vehicles will be electrified, even the automaker’s SUVs.

According to Jeep, the vehicle would go into production around the end of 2022 and go on sale in early 2023, likely as a 2024 model.

At the moment, the Jeep brand consists of the Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Renegade and Wrangler models, with the Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe models being sold in plug-in hybrid versions.
