Supply problems: 4.4 million fewer vehicles in 2022

Supply problems, shortage of semiconductors, in particular, continue to give automakers serious headaches. If, last June, we reported that 2.2 million vehicles were missing worldwide, the situation is not improving. According to a recent study conducted by the United States Data Collection Agency AutoForecast Solutions the year 2022 will end with around 4.4 million fewer new vehicles on the planet.

What is even more obvious in these data is that they make us realize that the North American market is one of the most affected, along with Europe. To date, the North American auto industry is running a deficit of 1,475,600 vehicles. AutoForecast Solutions projections estimate that by the end of the year, 1,536,600 new vehicles will not be built due to parts shortages.

Moreover, according to what the American media reported Automotive News as a result of the data, automakers had to cancel production of 79,000 vehicles at their North American plants this week alone.

As of this writing, 4,055,100 vehicles could not be built due to an insufficient number of parts. It is estimated that, by the end of the year, this figure will have reached 4,422,800. Another interesting fact that can be observed in these statistics is that of all the regions affected by the problems of supply of parts, the Chinese manufacturing industry is the least affected.
