Subaru seems to be preparing a Forester Wilderness

During our first contact with the Subaru Outback Wilderness 2022 Last month, Subaru Canada preferred not to comment on the addition of other similar models, but everything suggested that it would be a whole range of vehicles intended for off-road. Now it looks like Subaru is preparing the next model to wear the adventure patch. According to the few images that have just been published, it would be the Forester.

This information comes to us from the Twitter account of Subaru where we see a short video of the model in motion in an off-road context. Since we only see the left fender and the wheel, it is difficult to determine which model this is.

However, some clues allow us to deduce that it is a Forester, like the shape of the fender, the headlight and, most importantly, the upper body line that crosses the base of the mirror and extends to the front fender. Remember that, on the Ascent, this same line passes under the base of the mirror and stops its course before the wing.

From a business standpoint, it would make sense for Subaru to prioritize the Forester, as the automaker sells, on average, twice as many Foresters as Ascent annually in Canada and the United States.

However, like the Outback Wilderness, we would expect a fortified, uplifted Forester capable of tackling tougher trails. Like its little brother, the Forester Wilderness could receive modifications to its CVT and rear differential, while allowing the vehicle to stand out aesthetically through its additional accessories.

At the time of writing, Subaru had not announced anything about when this mysterious Wilderness model will be released, but it would not be surprising to see it show up this fall. We could then expect Wilderness versions of Ascent and Crosstrek a bit later.
