Subaru Ascent Onyx 2022: Only black
Subaru is undergoing big changes. After the refreshment of the Forester 2022 yesterday, it is now the turn of its big brother, the Subaru Ascent 2022, get a special edition Onyx.
The current generation Subaru Forester may well have been launched a year after the Subaru Ascent, it is he who was entitled to aesthetic refreshment. For’Ascent 2022, Subaru is satisfied with an operation at the colourist and not the surgeon!
For 2022, Subaru is offering a new special edition with Onyx. As its name suggests, the Ascent is completely soaked in black. Only the chrome strip between the taillights remains. Everything else, framing, radiator grille and 20-inch wheels go black. This edition is currently built from the Premium version in the US, a product that sits at the junction of our Touring and Limited model in terms of equipment.
Inside, there are some interesting variations of the accessories, such as the addition of a heated steering wheel or the electrically operated tailgate without a hand. What strikes most is the StarTex upholstery in a waterproof synthetic leather in gray color. To enhance its appearance, it has been added contrasting stitching. The whole thing is completed with floor mats unique to the Onyx edition.
Not surprisingly, the engine remains the same. It is still the turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque mated to a CVT-type automatic transmission. If the Onyx comes to Canada, it will be available during the summer. We are still awaiting confirmation from Subaru Canada.
