Slight price increase for the 2024 Hyundai Kona electric

The Hyundai Kona electric arrived in 2019 with a fully electric version on our market. Its popularity is undeniable, as evidenced by the sales figures, and consequently the quantity of vehicles on the roads. A new generation is about to arrive, and it’s time for the manufacturer to reveal the prices. The range continues to offer two versions, the price of which is slightly higher than previously.

The 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric range opens with the Preferred version, the price of which starts at $48,324, including freight and delivery charges, but without dealer fees and air conditioner/tire tax. As standard, this version is equipped with a 12.3-inch screen for the infotainment system, the Hyundai Smartsense safety suite and 17-inch wheels.

Next comes the second version offered, called Ultimate, and sold for $53,124, including freight and PDI, but excluding dealer fees and air conditioner/tire tax. For an additional amount of $4,800, the Ultimate version adds, among other things, a Bose audio system, a head-up display, a wireless charger and the digital key included on the cell phone.

The 2024 model year therefore sees the price of the Preferred and Ultimate versions rise by $1,800 and $1,500 respectively. Please note, however, that despite this increase, the vehicle remains fully eligible for the two government rebates totaling $12,000, applied after taxes.

Identical mechanics for both versions

The 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric continues to use a 150 kW (201 horsepower) electric motor connected to the front wheels. The battery is still of the lithium-ion type with 400 volt architecture, with a capacity of 64.8 kilowatt hours. This combination offers an electric range of 420 kilometers, which is 5 kilometers more than the 2023 model year.

Unlike some of its competitors, such as the Kia Niro EV, all versions of the Hyundai Kona electric are equipped with a heat pump, which improves range, particularly in cold weather.

Our team will test the electric version of the Hyundai Kona in a few weeks. Stay tuned to read the full test drive.
