Land Rover unveiled new specifications for its Sport model for 2024 last week. Unsurprisingly, the midsize SUV that sits between the Velar and the large Range Rover SUV is upping its sporty bent with help from BMW in addition to revise its plug-in hybrid version.
The all-new Range Rover Sport SV therefore becomes the sporting flagship of a brand known for its adventurers. Trend obliges, it displays disproportionate performance figures to justify its salty bill ($236,555). Its German-sourced 4.4L twin-turbo V8 produces 626 hp, a gain of 51 hp over the supercharged 5.0L V8 of the previous generation. The 0-100 km/h is completed in 3.8 seconds thanks to its eight-speed transmission and its all-wheel drive.

When the road becomes more tortuous, air springs lined with adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers come into play. Land Rover also equips the model with 23-inch carbon fiber wheels to reduce so-called “unsprung” mass, as well as carbon-ceramic brakes for thermal management and grip.
As for the plug-in hybrid livery, it increases to 542 hp thanks to a revised electric motor which still supports a 3 L turbocharged six-cylinder. Its electric range is 82 km. In its case, its starting price is set at $155,560 to benefit from much better frugality, pending an electric version of the Sport model scheduled for 2024.
