Exterior lighting is fully LED, both front and rear. We note the presence of a roof of the “floating” type and supported by a thin strip of chrome. The height of the rims varies from 17 inches for the Laredo to 21 inches for the Summit, the most equipped version.

Depending on the model chosen, you get more or less chrome, but the one that remains the most distinctive is the Trailhawk with its tires designed for off-road, its decals and its adventurous look. We must not forget the signature of the plug-in hybrid engine with its accents of blue, in particular on the tow hooks.

More luxurious than ever

The Grand Cherokee follows closely behind the Grand Cherokee L when it comes to interior and presentation. It is important to underline Jeep’s effort to enhance the quality of manufacture and the use of high-quality materials. Following the current fashion, the Grand Cherokee gets a collection of onboard displays and digital instrumentation, a 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 multimedia monitor as well as another screen in front of the passenger. Those in the back will also be entitled to their own viewing through Fire TV. For even more hearing pleasure, McIntosh provides an optional 19-speaker audio system with a power of 950 watts.

New and old

This generation of the Grand Cherokee arrives with a choice of 3 engines, which is a significant decrease compared to the previous version since the high performance versions are not being renewed for the moment. The V8 version still offers impressive towing capacity at 3,273 kilograms (7,200 pounds).

Jeep recovers from the Wrangler 4xe its 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with electric assist that gives a combined output of 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It is also mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to the contribution of a 17.3 kilowatt-hour battery, it would be able, according to Jeep, to cover a distance of 40 kilometers on electric mode.

Very soon

According to the manufacturer, the 5th generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee will arrive by the end of the year in terms of gasoline versions. As for the 4xe model, we will have to wait until early 2022. For now, Jeep Canada has not released the price list of the different versions of the vehicle.
