GM: Production of BrightDrop electric vans begins in Ontario

Barely two years after General Motors announced its new electric van division named BrightDrop, the American giant is now announcing the inauguration of a brand new plant in Ontario. Indeed, GM has chosen Canada to build its vans. The production has also started since Monday, December 5th.

Following a $1 billion investment from both General Motors and the Canadian and Ontario governments, the plant located in Ingersoll (CAMI Automotive) has been completely redesigned to allow the construction of electric commercial vehicles. This factory has a long heritage at General Motors. In the past, it built the Chevrolet Equinox until April 2022. It is also where the GMC Terrain, the Pontiac Torrent and even some Suzuki models, such as the XL7 and the Sidekick, were once built. notably.

The main site, which covers an area of ​​2 million square feet, now handles all construction of GM vans.
