Chevrolet is preparing an electric sedan for the Chinese market

Although the sedan category is not the most lucrative, GM seems to want to keep the market active by perhaps electrifying a sedan.

A Chevrolet electric sedan?

By putting the spotlight on products like the Equinox EV, the Blazer EV or even the Silverado EV, GM’s strategy did not seem to include the electrification of cars other than the group’s well-known sports cars. Seeing the SUV sales figures on the market, this strategy seemed quite logical.

Despite the figures, Mark Reuss confirms that it is possible that electric cars are indeed sold on our territory. This sedan could become the electric alternative to the Chevrolet Volt, which disappeared a few years ago.

Little data, lots of hope

Based on the FNR-XE concept and unsurprisingly sharing the manufacturer’s Ultium platform, this sedan shows a vehicle adhering to the aerodynamic movement of the market. The integration of camera-style exterior mirrors, the low profile of the vehicle and the integration of air intakes in the concept’s bumpers indicate the desire to make the vehicle energetically efficient.

No technical characteristics or photo of the interior have yet been revealed. As this sedan will have been developed specifically for the Chinese market, it is a little early to decide on the arrival of this car on our territory. Still, Chevrolet could compete with a market well-tapped by Tesla with the Model 3. Competitors like the Polestar 2 and Hyundai IONIQ 6 may signal a resurgence in popularity for sedan-type cars. We will have to wait until next year to learn more.
