2023 Lexus RX: a higher selling price

We now know the price of the very popular 2023 Lexus RX. The Japanese brand’s star player is coming to Canada for a 5th generation and wants to keep his role as the manufacturer’s best seller. Now offered with new powertrains including two hybrids, the 2023 RX will sell for between $61,390 and $88,340, including freight and delivery charges.

Hybrids for all tastes

At the start of the game, it will be possible to order an RX that does not have a hybrid system. The RX 350 will now be mated to a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine developing 275 horsepower and producing 317 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard in the 350. The 2023 Lexus RX 350 is said to be more fuel efficient than the 2022 RX 350 boasting an estimated 9.9 liters/100 kilometers in mixed city/highway driving. It will retail for between $61,390 and $76,890 including freight and preparation costs.

Now the price of hybrid models. At the start of the range is the RX350h. Using a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and Lexus’ hybrid system, the RX 350h will produce a net horsepower of 246 and 233 lb-ft of torque. Using an electronic CVT, the 350h announces a combined fuel consumption of 6.5 litres/100 kilometres. It will sell for between $62,890 and $78,390. The RX 350h will cost just $1,500 more than the gas-powered version without the hybridization system.

At the top of the scale is the RX 500h which theoretically replaces the RX 450h. Starting at $62,990, the 2022 RX 450h had a similar price range as the 2023 RX 350h. However, the older Lexus version didn’t offer the power that the 500h offers.

The 500h’s new hybrid system combines a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Power is rated at 366 horsepower, torque at 406 lb-ft; it should, according to estimates, go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.2 seconds. It will sell from $82,540 and can reach $88,340 with the F Sport performance 3 package. A combined fuel consumption of 8.6 litres/100 kilometers is expected for the RX 500h.

Comes standard with AWD all-wheel drive, the 2023 RXs have a towing capacity of 1,591 kilos (3,500 pounds). The products will be equipped with a range of driving aids as well as a good dose of technological safety equipment.

A new multimedia interface

All Lexus RXs will be built at Toyota’s Canadian plant in Cambridge, Ontario. The Japanese SUV will for the very first time in its history be built using the Toyota/Lexus-K global architecture. This platform allows the RX to have a lower center of gravity, increase body rigidity, gain more room for occupants and improve cargo space.

One of the biggest changes is in the vehicle’s cabin. The RX features the next-generation Lexus interface to enhance the vehicle’s multimedia system. Available as standard in 9.8 inches and up to 14 inches, the interface would be, according to the manufacturer, more efficient than ever thanks to the addition of a voice-activated virtual assistant.
